Obituary for Ronald Waeltz

Ronald Waeltz, 85 years old, of Hatboro, PA. passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, December 10, 2018. Ron was born to parents Elmer and Carrie Waeltz on August 8, 1933 in Abington, PA. He grew up the youngest of eight children (Elmer, Jr., Howard, Betty, Dallas, Raymond, Bernice, and Ruth). He graduated from Abington High School in 1951. He served from 1953 - 1956 in the US Air Force in Empire, Michigan. This is where he met his sweetheart Darlene and they married on July 31, 1954. Eventually they moved their home to Pennsylvania. He worked at SPS Technologies in Jenkintown for 45 years (1951 - 1996). According to his family, he "always appreciated spending time with them and keeping tradition alive, from back-to-school lunches to Thanksgiving Parade soup and Christmas breakfast. He and grandmom preserved our family traditions-gathering us under their wings for the annual picnics, the weekly meals, and the countless birthday celebrations." He was a serious guy and very analytic. On the other hand, he had interests and toys that made his life fun. He played sports throughout his life in school and at work. Some of his favorites were soccer, volleyball, softball, and tennis. The family sport that we were all involved in was bowling. Many Friday nights were spent with the Blue Chip League and being one of the top bowlers. From childhood to adulthood, he had a constant interest in airplanes and cars. He loved TV and video games back in the day of Pong. Work friends would come over and race miniature electric cars in the basement and eventually that would change over to a train set. Pinochle was a favorite pastime with his siblings and their spouses. Watching the Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State continued until a few days before his passing. All fun stuff, "we will always be blowing out the candles with you"-husband, dad, grandpa, GGPop! Ron is survived by his wife of 63 years, Darlene (Eikey) and their two children Alan Waeltz (Joanne) and Karen O'Brien (Ray) , Six grandchildren: Jennifer Eisele (Erik), Stefanie O'Brien, Joseph Waeltz (Nicole), Elizabeth Waeltz (Brian), Maria Waeltz, and John Waeltz; Seven great-grandchildren: Sophia, Anneliese, Oliver, Helena, Heidi, Clara, and Justin. Many nieces and nephews also filled his life. He was predeceased by his parents, seven siblings and his grandson, Jason Waeltz.
